San Sisto II
Sixtus was ordained bishop of the church of Rome in 257.
The following year, while celebrating the sacred liturgy in the cemetery of Callisto, he was arrested in homage to the edict of Valeriano and killed on the spot together with four Roman deacons on August 6.
He was then buried in the same cemetery.
He is revered as a saint by the Catholic and Orthodox Christian Church, in Pisa he was the old patron of the city which after August 6, 1284, following the defeat in the Battle of Meloria, was no longer celebrated.
