Edith Stein was born in Wroclaw, in German Silesia, on October 12, 1891, the eleventh daughter of a very religious Jewish couple.

From childhood Edith manifested a lively and brilliant intelligence.

After teaching philosophy for a few years, he undertook a new life in Christ with baptism, continuing it under the veil of the virgins consecrated in the order of the Discalced Carmelites.

Under an ungodly regime contrary to human and Christian dignity she was thrown into prison far from her homeland and in the Auschwitz death camp near Krakow in Poland she was killed in a gas chamber.
