How to clean the steam iron from limescale

post-title

How do you clean your steam iron, with or without a boiler, from limescale deposits that clog the nozzles and dirty the plate, preventing limescale from coming out freely and, above all, risking irreparable damage to ironed items.

Method for cleaning the iron

Even if there are specific products in the shopping centers for the maintenance of the iron plate, it cannot be denied that they are composed of effective but very aggressive ingredients, moreover the price is quite high.

But fortunately it is not the only way, in fact you can alternatively use a natural preparation based on water and sodium bicarbonate, in combination with a compound consisting of a mixture of distilled water and vinegar.

First of all, the nozzles from which the steam comes out under the plate must be descaled, to do this you must fill the iron boiler with water and vinegar, mixed at 50% each, and start to let the steam escape until it is empty the tank completely.

Subsequently, the residues resulting from this operation and those already present on the plate will be removed.

To achieve this, allow the iron to cool and pass a soft cloth over all the steel parts, soaked in an aqueous solution previously prepared in this way: 3 tablespoons of baking soda and 6 tablespoons of cold water.

Finally pass again a cloth, this time moistened with water and lemon, and immediately after a dry cloth to dry.
