Saint Brigida of Sweden, born in Finsta on June 3, 1303 and died in Rome on July 23, 1373, was a Swedish religious, mystic and founder of the Order of the Most Holy Savior.
The first period of his life was typical of a woman happily married with eight children and belonging to a wealthy social class.
All this however did not prevent her from studying Sacred Scripture and founding a small hospital to assist the poor.
Highlighted for her marked pedagogical skills, she was called to the Stockholm court, where she remained until the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, which marked the end of the first part of her existence.
Widowed in 1344, Brigida felt the need to move from her hometown to start new missions, for this reason she decided to settle in Rome.
Once in Italy, he visited many places, especially those where relics of saints were found, as well as the sanctuary of San Michele Arcangelo sul Gargano.
Between 1371 and 1372 she went on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, a journey that allowed her to know the places where Jesus had lived.
In Jerusalem, in 1372, while he was visiting the House of Our Lady, he felt the call of the Lord.
Brigida revealed the designs of God on historical events to princes and pontiffs, inviting a profound moral reform of the Christian people.
In continuous bond with Christ, she had long visions and conversations with him that provided inspiration for her to write her famous prayers.

Saint was proclaimed under the pontificate of Pope Boniface IX on October 7, 1391, while John Paul II, on October 1, 1999, proclaimed her co-patron of Europe together with Aanta Catherine of Siena and Santa Teresa Benedetta della Croce.
