The Saint of the day 25 March is San Dismas, the Good Thief, who is celebrated as name day and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
San Dismas
In the texts of the Gospels it is said that Jesus was crucified between two criminals, who were also condemned to suffer the same type of death penalty as they had committed murders for the purpose of robbery.
In the Gospel of St. Luke it is stated that one of the two thieves took part in the chorus of the crowd that taunted and insulted Jesus, while the other, the one on the right, once confessed their sins to Jesus and after having repented of all his sins , urged him to remember him once he arrived in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus accepted his prayer, instilling courage with the promise of Heaven.
Many details are added to the Gospel story from the apocryphal texts, which assign a name to the two thieves, Gestas, the first, and Dismas the second.
In medieval times San Dismas was revered in numerous places, simply as Buon Ladrone or Dismas.
