Psalm 116 complete

[1] Alleluia. I love the Lord because he listens to the cry of my prayer.

[2] He strained his ear towards me on the day I invoked him.

[3] They held me ropes of death, I was caught in the snares of the underworld. Sadness and anguish overwhelmed me

[4] and I invoked the name of the Lord: "Please, Lord, save me."

[5] The Lord is good and just, our God is merciful.

[6] The Lord protects the humble: I was miserable and he saved me.

[7] Return, my soul, to your peace, for the Lord has benefited you; [8] he stole me from death, freed my eyes from tears, preserved my feet from falling.

[9] I will walk in the presence of the Lord on the land of the living.

[10] Alleluia. I also believed when I said, "I'm too unhappy."

[11] I said with dismay: "Every man is deceit."
