Psalm 141: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentPsalm 141 is an invocation of the author to God to listen to him every time he invokes him. The psalmist asks the Lord to help him dose the words, so that they do not say evil things, to prevent his heart from becoming arid, doing evil, and to protect him from the pitfalls that evildoers could offer him during his journey.

Psalm 141 complete

[1] Psalm. Di Davide. Lord, I cry to you, run to my aid; listen to my voice when I invoke you.

[2] As incense my prayer goes up to you, my hands raised as an evening sacrifice.

[3] Lord, put a case on my mouth, guard the door of my lips.

[4] Do not let my heart bend to evil and do unfair actions with sinners: that I do not taste their delicious foods.

[5] The righteous beat me and the faithful reproach me, but the oil of the wicked does not perfume my head; among their wickedness continue my prayer.

[6] Their leaders were thrown off the cliff, and they had heard sweet words from me.

[7] As the earth cracked and opened, their bones were scattered at the mouth of the underworld.

[8] My eyes turn to you, my Lord God; I take refuge in you, protect my life.

[9] Preserve me from the snare they tend to me, from the ambushes of evildoers.

[10] The wicked fall into their nets together, but I will pass unharmed.
