What to see in Ravello in one day, itinerary including the main monuments and places of interest, including the Duomo, the Church of Santa Maria Gradillo and Villa Rufolo.


Tourist information

The foundation of Ravello, which was a possession of the Maritime Republic of Amalfi, dates back to the fifth century.

The Cathedral of San Pantaleone, built at the end of the year 1000, has a beautiful bronze portal dating back to 1179 and a bell tower from 1200.


Inside there is a beautiful pulpit from the year 200, an ambo with mosaics, a crypt and the seventeenth-century chapel of San Pantaleone, where the ampoule containing the blood of the patron saint is kept, affected by the prodigious phenomenon of liquefaction.

The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo houses very interesting objects, including the famous bust of Sigilgaita Rufolo, the work of Nicola di Bartolomeo da Foggia.

What see

The church of San Giovanni del Toro, dating back to 1100, has a beautiful facade with three Gothic portals and lunettes, also inside there is a pulpit decorated with mosaics, frescoes and majolica.


The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, in Romanesque style and located not far from the cathedral, is a church with a quadrangular plan dating back to 1100, containing small remains of a fresco depicting the Virgin, the Agnus Dei and San Cosma, in addition to the simulacrum of the Virgin of Grace, whose feast falls on February 2nd.

In the vicinity of the Church of Santa Maria a Gradillo, with three apses and which includes an interesting twelfth-century bell tower, there are the remains of the thirteenth-century castle.

Continuing on the right of the Cathedral you reach a tower from the 300, which constitutes the entrance to Villa Rufolo, a building in the historic center dating back to the thirteenth century and with Sicilian Arabic style decorations.

For lovers of beautiful panoriami, it is worth climbing to the famous Cimbrone belvedere, located in the garden of the homonymous villa.
