Overlooking the Caribbean Sea in the southeastern part of the Dominican Republic, Bayahibe is a small village in the province of La Altagracia.

Santo Domingo, the nation's capital, is located about 100 km away, while Altos de Chavon, which has become famous for being the setting for some cinematographic works, including King Kong, Rambo 2 and Apocalypse Now, is less of 30 km.


It is possible to get to Bayahibe by calling at La Romana airport, 30 km away, or at the international airport of Santo Domingo, Las Americas, about 150 km away, and from there rent a car or take advantage of available public transport.

Bayahibe's economy is mainly based on fishing and tourism, the tourist accommodation facilities, mostly family-run, are in perfect harmony with the environment, where old traditions remain.

What see

The bay where the town stands is sheltered, the white sand beach is dotted with palm trees, in the Este national park the typical tropical vegetation shows off, while the sea offers spectacular backdrops to diving enthusiasts, thanks to the exceptional transparency of its waters.

The roads are unpaved, respecting the constraints due to the recognition of a protected area.

About the excursions to do, from here you can easily reach the Saona and Catalina islands, where some of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean are located.
