post-title

What to see in Fiorenzuola d’Arda, an itinerary including the main monuments and places of interest, including Collegiate Church of San Fiorenzo, Palazzo Grossi and Chiaravalle della Colomba Abbey.

Tourist information

Located on the right bank of the Arda stream, along the route of the Via Emilia, Fiorenzuola d’Arda is an important center, home to important agricultural, commercial and industrial activities.

Among the monuments to visit is the Collegiate Church of San Fiorenzo, dating back to the early 1300s but entirely rebuilt at the end of the following century, according to late Gothic forms, except for the portal which was made in terracotta in the Renaissance style.

Inside the church there are fifteenth-century frescoes made by Lombard artists.

In Corso Garibaldi is the former Palazzo Grossi, a late Gothic building embellished with a Renaissance frieze.

What see

At 10 km from the center is the Abbey of Chiaravalle della Colomba, founded in 1135 by San Bernardo di Chiaravalle, consisting of the monastery and the basilica.

The interior of the church is built in Burgundian forms, according to the Cistercian style.

The fourteenth century cloister is remarkable, with a square plan and equipped with six four-light windows on each side, supported by pink marble columns.

Among the excursions to do in the surrounding area is that of the Terme di Bacedasco, about 12 km away, located in a large fenced park.

The waters of the thermal spring are used to treat liver, kidney and respiratory and gastro-intestinal diseases.

The spa is located in the center of the park.
