Definition of mirrorless cameras

When we talk about mirrorless cameras we define ourselves as a recent type of digital cameras inserted in a distinct market segment compared to traditional SLR and compact cameras.

These cameras are distinguished above all by their compact dimensions and their low weight, when compared with SLR cameras, without however having to compromise on the quality of the photographs taken.

The revolution carried out by this new type of cameras mainly lies in the abolition of the reflex mirror, while not giving up the possibility of interchanging the lenses used suitable for any type of photographic situation.

In mirrorless cameras, the photographic image is formed directly on the sensor, without having to be reflected on it by the mirror as is the case with reflex cameras.

As it is easy to guess, the overall dimensions and reduced weight reside precisely in the absence of the mirror, a factor which at the construction level saves considerable space.

Traditional reflex lenses cannot be mounted directly on mirrorless lenses but require special adapter rings capable of adapting the different draft between lens and bayonet.

However, the use of adapter rings causes compatibility with various automatisms to be lost, including adjustment of the diaphragm and focus, which must be manually adjusted.
