A state of New England named after the English county of Hampshire, New Hampshire borders Canada to the north, Maine to the east, Vermont to the west and Massachusetts to the south.
In the south-eastern part, it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean.
There are numerous quarries of granite rock, for this reason the status of granite is nicknamed.
Geographically it appears as a territory mainly covered by mountains, including the chain of the White Mountains, of which the highest peak is represented by Mount Washington, which reaches almost two thousand meters above sea level.
The major rivers are Connecticut, which marks the border with Vermont to the west, the Merrimacks and the Androscoggin, all of which flow into the Atlantic Ocean.
The economy of New Hampshire is based on agriculture, in particular cereals, vegetables and fruit, also on the breeding of cattle, especially cattle and poultry, on fishing and on the extraction of timber from the extensive forests.
As far as the industrial sector is concerned, it is dominated by footwear, textile, electrotechnical, food, wood and paper industries.
The tourism sector is also of some importance.
What see
Among the most important cities to see is Concorde, which is the capital located in Merrimack county.
Added to this are Nashua and Manchester, the latter located in the county of Hillsborough and having the largest number of inhabitants.
