North Cape (Norway): what to see

post-title

What to see in the North Cape, where this town in Norway is located, which represents the northern end of Europe, famous for its midnight sun and northern lights.

Tourist information

Famous scenic spot located in northern Norway, the North Cape offers breathtaking landscapes, open over the Arctic Ocean.

This location, located on a cliff at about 300 meters above sea level, is considered the northernmost point of Europe, easily accessible by car through a road that crosses the characteristic Arctic landscape.

The local climate is arctic, which is why it is important to bring warm clothing.

Being covered in snow for most of the year, the best times to visit the North Cape are between the months of June and August.

What see

In the period from the second half of May until the first half of August, it is possible to witness the phenomenon commonly known as the "midnight sun", days in which the night never falls, since the sun never drops below below the horizon line, thus maintaining a twilight light.

In winter however, although the sun never rises above the horizon, for a period of about 70 days it is possible to admire the so-called "northern lights", days characterized only by a faint light.

The visual differences of these two phenomena are caused by different physical refraction effects, capable of generating different shades of color.
