Santa Flora of Cordoba
Born in Cordoba in Islamic Spain on an unspecified date and died in the same city on November 24, 851, Flora was the daughter of parents practicing different religions, the father was in fact Muslim while the mother was Christian.
When her father died she was educated in Christianity together with her sister Baldegoto but was opposed by her brother who was Muslim as the father.
He fled the house for the first time to return later, as his brother had some religious imprisoned for the purpose of blackmailing her.
Brutally punished with beatings, after some time she left again and stayed away for several years, returning only when she felt ready to suffer martyrdom, not wanting to renounce the Christian faith at all.
This time she was imprisoned and in cell she met Eulogio, one of the martyrs of Cordova who later gave news of his martyrdom, being consequently beheaded on the sole charge of having professed the Catholic religion.
A legend says that his body, after being thrown without respect in the fields, was not defaced by animals and was thrown into the Guadalquivir river.
