Tourist information

State of Mediterranean Asia, Palestine extends from north to south for about 260 km, between the slopes of Mount Hermon and the city of Be'er Sheva, for about 150 km from east to west, between the desert of Syria and the coasts on the Mediterranean sea.

Palestine is a place where different peoples have always lived and its borders have never been well defined.

In ancient times it was called the Land of Canann, a name also mentioned in the Holy Bible, later it became the land of Israel.

It was under Roman rule that took the Latin name of Palaestina, deriving from Philistea, or the land of the Philistines.

The Palestinian territory occupies the extreme south-western part of the arable land, called fertile crescent, which extend between the Persian Gulf, Assyria and the Mediterranean Sea, surrounded by large desert areas.

What see

The country is crossed from north to south by the Jordan River, which divides it into two regions, the West Bank to the west and Trans-Jordan to the east.

The first extends over an arid and steppe plateau, while the second has fertile soil, which in turn is divided into the regions of Galilee in the north, Samaria in the center and Judea in the south.

The main cities of Galilee are Haifa, Nazareth, Zefàt, Cana and Akko, while those of Samaria are Shechem, Samaria and Sebaste.

Judea is home to the important city of Jerusalem, in addition to the cities of Hebron, Bethlehem and Beersheba.

The Jordan River, along its route, forms Lake El-Hule and Lake Tiberias, before flowing into the Dead Sea.
