Tourist information

Located in the province of Salerno in Campania and geographically belonging to the Amalfi Coast, Praiano is a picturesque fishing village located in the stretch between Positano and Conca dei Marini, near Capo Sottile.

In the highest part of the country, from which you can enjoy a splendid panorama of the coast, there is the Church of San Luca Evangelista, dating back to 1588 and built on top of a previous church.

With a white facade and a three-storey bell tower on the side, the church has an interior with three naves comprising six chapels on each side, as well as an eighteenth-century majolica floor, a silver bust, containing the relics of San Luca, two sixteenth-century paintings, having as subject the Circumcision and the Virgin of the Rosary of 1582.

What see

In the vicinity of Capo Sottile there is the Church of San Gennaro Vescovo e Martire, dating back to 1589 and built on top of the remains of a thirteenth century church.

The church, surmounted by a dome covered in majolica, has an interior with three naves with a Latin cross.

In the lower part of Praiano there is a very characteristic beach, inserted between two rocky walls, near which there is the Torre a Mare, dating back to medieval times, built with functions of sighting and defense against Saracen raids.

At the Gavitella beach there is the Torre di Grado, built by the Spaniards.
