Psalm 117: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentPsalm 117 was written in the period immediately after exile, drawing inspiration from the book of Isaiah. With strength Israel, sure of God's love, invites all nations to recognize him as the true and unique one, giving him glory with obedience to his illuminating word that brings salvation. This song, although the shortest of all the psalms, is very rich in meaning and brings out the awareness of the mission entrusted to the people of Israel towards all the other peoples of the earth, with the Church that never stops inviting anyone to make it part, to realize that eternal covenant arising from the coming of Christ into the world.

Psalm 117 complete

[1] Alleluia. Praise the Lord, all peoples, all of you, nations, give him glory;

[2] because his love for us is strong and the faithfulness of the Lord lasts forever.
