Psalm 26: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentThe author of Psalm 26 asks the Lord to do him justice because the wicked reject him and accuse him of violating the law. He does not let himself go and presents his innocent being in the presence of God. The humble man has no difficulty in recognizing himself as a sinner, but in conscience he does not accept the condemnation of men but relies only on the judgment of God.

Psalm 26 complete

[1] Of David. Lord, do me justice: in integrity I have walked, I trust in the Lord, I will not be able to waver.

[2] Look at me, Lord, and test me, refine my heart and mind to fire.

[3] Your goodness is before my eyes and in your truth I direct my steps.

[4] I don't sit with false men and I don't attend simulators.

[5] I hate the covenant of the wicked, I don't associate with the wicked.

[6] I wash my hands in innocence and go around your altar, Lord,

[7] to make voices of praise resound and to narrate all your wonders.

[8] Lord, I love the house where you live and the place where your glory lives.

[9] Do not overwhelm me with sinners, do not lose my life with men of blood,

[10] because in their hands is perfidy, their right hand is full of gifts.
