What to see in Rocca di Cambio, a small mountain center in Abruzzo, suitable not only for summer holidays but also for winter holidays, thanks to the proximity of the Campo Felice ski resort.

Located at the foot of Mount Cagno, Rocca di Cambio is located in the northern part of the Rocche Plateau, within the Sirente Velino regional park and 25 kilometers from L'Aquila.
With its altitude of 1434 meters, Rocca di Cambio is the highest municipality in the Apennines.
Among the main places to visit is the Church of Santa Maria, also known as the Church of the Annunciation and dating back to the sixteenth century.
Inside it has three naves and various works are preserved, including a fifteenth-century polychrome wooden statue depicting Saint Lucia, a terracotta Via Crucis and a ceramic crucifix, as well as a sculpture of the Annunciation by Pietro Romano and a baptismal font from the 1569.
What see
At the highest point of the town is the Church of San Pietro, with a single nave interior where a tenth century statue, made of wood and majolica, depicting San Pietro is preserved.
The castle, of which only a tower remains, characterized by a large bastion at the base and circular body, was destroyed following the 1703 earthquake.
Some remains of the fortification were used to expand the church of San Pietro apostolo, which is located in front of the tower.
Less than two kilometers from the center, the Abbey of Santa Lucia, dating from the twelfth century and built in Romanesque style, is worth a visit.
Inside there are frescoes from Giotto's school, dating back to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, in which scenes from the life of Saint Lucia are reproduced, in addition to the Passion of Christ, his Resurrection and the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
Note the presence of a fresco of the Last Supper, a work that covers an entire wall of the church.
