Born in Sigmaringen, Germany, in 1578, Marco Reyd, who became Friar Fedele as a Capuchin, after studying philosophy and law at the University of Friborg in Switzerland, embarked on a forensic career in Colmar in Alsace.

He was thrilled to receive a request from the Earl of Stotzingen to start his children and a group of other boys.

Wandering and stopping for six years in various cities of Italy, Spain and France, he taught fruitful lessons to young students who earned him the nickname of a Christian philosopher.

At 34, he left everything and returned to Freiburg, settling at the convent of the Capuchin friars.

He held the position of guardian of the convent of Weltkirchen and was commissioned by the Congregation of Propaganda Fide to go to Rezia, which was going through a period of deep Protestant crisis.

The conversions he managed to achieve were numerous but, at the same time, a strong wave of aversion arose around him.

In 1622 in Séwis, during the sermon, the silence was interrupted by some shots.

Fra Fedele also finished the sermon and then walked home.

But suddenly he was surrounded by about twenty soldiers who ordered him to deny the words spoken shortly before but, upon his refusal, killed him immediately by means of a sword.
