Cabo da Roca (Portugal): what to see

post-title

What to see in Cabo da Roca, a Portuguese town from which it is possible to observe the ocean from the top of a rocky coast about 100 meters high, which constitutes the western end of Europe.

Tourist information

Cabo da Roca is a ledge of the coast of Portugal washed by the Atlantic Ocean located in the hamlet of Colares, part of the municipality of Sintra belonging to the district of Lisbon.

With these words the poet Luís Vaz de Camoes described this singular place: "Aqui ... Waves ashore if acaba e o mar começa ...." which translated into Italian means "Here ... where the land ends and the sea begins".

What see

This poetic phrase is written on a stone plaque of a stone monument built to celebrate this particular point which also represents the western end of the European continent.

Needless to say, Cabo de Roca is an almost obligatory tourist destination with its splendid location that allows you to look at the sea from a rocky coastline a hundred meters high and with its belonging to the Sintra Cascais natural park which includes a vast variety of species animals including cormorants, nocturnal birds of prey, peregrine falcons and seagulls.
