Tourist information

Located in the federal state of Texas, Dallas is one of the largest cities in the United States, covering approximately 500 square kilometers in area, with over one million inhabitants.

Dallas was founded in 1841 and for several years it has been well known worldwide for its thriving oil industry, which has huge deposits on site and throughout Texas, for telecommunications, information technology and modern banking system.

The origin of the name "Dallas" is a mystery, despite claims that say otherwise.

It has often been stated that both the county and the city were named after George Mifflin Dallas, 11th Vice President of the United States.

However, there is no evidence that Bryan ever met George Mifflin Dallas, in fact the area was called Dallas several years before he was elected.

Another idea comes from the fact that the name comes from a small Pennsylvania town, called Dallas.

It quickly became a thriving center for cotton, wheat and buffalo trade and a financial center for the oil industry in Texas and Oklahoma.

It was in Dallas that the first integrated electronic circuit was invented by Texas Instruments in 1958, which is why many industries related to electronic technology have also developed in the area.

An important center for banks and insurance companies, Dallas suffered a severe economic crisis in the late 1980s, due to the strong collapse of savings and the loan crisis, factors that brought the whole economy to its knees, with hundreds of millions of dollars destined for burnt development in no time.

With this began a period of recession, which lasted in part also in 1990, attenuated by the flourishing growth of companies in the electronic sector, which contributed to mitigating the difficult period.
