The Saint of the day December 27 is Saint John the Evangelist, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
Saint John the apostle
John was an apostle of the Lord, the apostle he loved.
It was not by chance that he had been closest to Christ, approaching him by warmth of heart.
In fact, after the Resurrection, John recognized Jesus first when, in the morning twilight, the risen man appears on the shores of the lake.
At his cry: "It is the Lord" St. Peter will throw himself into the water.
And yet John is the only disciple present on Calvary, the only one to follow the Master even under the cross.
Seeing his mother and the beloved disciple nearby, he said to the mother: "Woman, here is your son."
Then he said to the disciple, "Here is your Mother."
And from that moment the disciple took her with him.
And in John the Redeemer puts all humanity under the protective mantle of Mary.
Hence, in old age, after having hosted the Madonna in Ephesus for years, after being Bishop of that city, evangelizer of Asia and deported to the island of Patmos, John is able to write the Gospel of Love, in which says that God is charity, moreover it is Love in which, and only in Him, there is salvation, fullness, grace and happiness.Recommended readings
