Various scientific tests have set the speed of light at a certain value, corresponding to that used by light rays in their movement through the air.
Light speed
The light rays move through the air at a speed of 299,792 kilometers per second.
From this value it follows that the light takes a little more than a second to reach the earth from the moon, 8 minutes from the sun and over 4 years from the nearest star.
Radio waves and X-rays travel at the same speed as light and nothing else is able to move at speeds higher than this.
