Saints Perpetua and Felicita

Perpetua was a noblewoman of Carthage and Felicita was her devoted slave.

Neither of them, like the three men condemned with them, were baptized Christians, but catechumens, that is, aspiring to baptism.

Closed in prison in Carthage in anticipation of her death, the young Perpetua writes a diary of her last days of life, where she describes a full prison and the torment caused by the heat, she also notes the names of visitors and tells visions she had in recent days.

Perpetua is 22 years old, married and mother of a child, with her is Felicita, younger than her and daughter of her servants, who is expecting a baby, as well as three men named Saturnino, Revocato and Secondulo.

All sentenced to death because of their choice to be Christian.

They were martyred, suspended in a net and tormented by an enraged heifer, they were given the coup de grace with the sword.
