The saint of the day 12 October is San Serafino da Montegranaro, which name day is celebrated and other saints are celebrated on this date.
San Serafino da Montegranaro
Serafino was born in the Marche region, in Montegranaro, in 1540 from a peasant family.
He was a shepherd of flocks until his father's death, then he became a friar entering the Capuchin Convent.
His entire existence as a Franciscan was spent in the garden and in other humble manual works.
This did not mean that prodigies were lacking around him, such as the fruitfulness of the garden which allowed not only to satisfy the needs of the frugal conventual community, but also those of the poor in the area.
Alongside the industrious life, the cappuccino of the Convent of Jesi felt the call of spiritual life profound.
He spent all the free hours of work in the garden in church and served Mass with such devotion that he was able to move even the most distracted faithful.
In his simplicity and ignorance he understood and intensely lived the great drama of the Eucharistic altar, with a truly amazing mystical penetration.
He lived for sixty-three years and died after receiving the Viaticum, insistently asked, when no one would have thought that his end was near.
