Pag (Croatia): what to see on the island of Dalmatia

post-title

What to see in Pag, the ideal island to spend pleasant beach holidays in Croatia, where fun and ancient traditions complete the tourist offer.

Tourist information

Located in Croatia, in northern Dalmatia, Pag is an island connected to the mainland by a ferry line, which connects Prizna to Zigljen, and a bridge located in its southern end, where the island is very close to the Dalmatian coasts.

Pag has a bleak appearance, especially in the north-eastern part, exposed to the gusts of bora, while the western side has olive trees, figs and aromatic plants.

Among the peculiarities of this island is the extraction of salt, whose production, still active, is documented for the first time in the ninth century, even though it was probably already present long before.

The craftsmanship of a lace is also part of the tradition, whose origins date back to the fifteenth century, when it was used as an ornament of the female costume, with examples of particular beauty.

From a gastronomic point of view, the excellent lamb meat and the tasty local cheese are renowned.

The island is famous for its coast full of bays lapped by the clear sea.

What see

The most famous resort is Novalja, located near the Zrce beach, where fun and sporting activities reign.

The city of Pag, the capital of the island, is located in an enchanting bay where, in an area characterized by shallow depth of the sea called Lokunja, there is a layer of healing mud on the seabed, whose beneficial effects can be appreciated by making us a nice bathroom.
