Valentine's day origins
The feast of St. Valentine, which occurs on February 14 of each year and is celebrated all over the world, was established in 496, two centuries after the saint's death, when the pope of the time, Gelasius I, wanted to replace the pagan feast of the fertility with that relating to the message of love that had found wide diffusion through the work done by St. Valentine in this sense.
