CommentPsalm 21 constitutes a praise and glorification to God for the greatness of the king, with the exaltation of the messianic traits it contains, making the figure of the king coincide with that of Christ the Lord son of the Father.

Psalm 21 complete

[1] To the choir master. Psalm. Di Davide.

[2] Lord, the king rejoices in your power, how much he rejoices in your salvation!

[3] You have fulfilled the desire of his heart, you have not rejected the vow of his lips.

[4] Come to meet him with great blessings; place a crown of fine gold on his head.

[5] Vita asked you, you granted him, long days forever, without end.

[6] Great is his glory for your salvation, wrap him with majesty and honor;

[7] you make him the object of blessing forever, you shower him with joy before your face.

[8] Because the king trusts in the Lord: for the faithfulness of the Most High he will never be shaken.

[9] Your hand will reach all your enemies, your right hand will reach anyone who hates you.

[10] You will make it an ardent furnace, on the day you show yourself: the Lord will consume them in his anger, he will devour them the fire.

[11] You will cut off their offspring from the earth, their offspring from among men.

[12] Because they have hatched evil against you, they have plotted pitfalls, they will not succeed.

[13] You have turned your back on them, and you will aim your bow at them.

[14] Arise, Lord, in all your strength; we will sing hymns to your power.
