Psalm 61: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentThis psalm 61 is commonly believed to refer to a Levite during the Assyrian-Babylonian invasions. Seeing death on the edge of an abyss in the face, his heart fails to face the succession of catastrophic events, for this reason he asks God to be guided on this impervious cliff away from the horrors of war. Encouraged by God, thanks to the living faith received as an inheritance that gives him peace, he is full of confidence to the point of promising to remain in his future always in the shadow of the temple. Those who joyfully praise the Father in Christ will be freed from the slavery of sin and death.

Psalm 61 complete

[1] To the choir master. For stringed instruments. Di Davide.

[2] Hear my cry, O God, be attentive to my prayer.

[3] From the ends of the earth I invoke you; while my heart is failing, guide me on an inaccessible cliff.

[4] You are my refuge, firm tower in front of the opponent.

[5] I will dwell in your tent forever, in the shadow of your wings I will find shelter;

[6] because you, God, have listened to my vows, you have given me the legacy of those who fear your name.

[7] Add to the days of the king other days, for many generations may be his years.

[8] You reign forever before the eyes of God; grace and faithfulness guard it.

[9] Then I will sing hymns to your name, always, dissolving my vows day by day.
