post-title

What to see in Tarcento, itinerary including the main monuments and places of interest, including the Church of San Pietro, Palazzo Frangipane, the Caves of Villanova and Chiesa Sant’Eufemia.

Tourist information

Located in the province of Udine, from which it is 19 km away, Tarcento is a holiday resort, as well as an agricultural and industrial center, located in a basin near the Torre stream and at the foot of the Julian Alps.

Medieval village, Tarcento was first subjected to many feudal lords and then, from 1420, it became part of the Republic of Venice.

In via Roma is located the Church of San Pietro, dating back to the twelfth century and rebuilt in 1600, inside which there are two holy water stoups in the shape of a shell and a remarkable marble high altar made in Baroque style.

What see

The eighteenth-century Palazzo Frangipane is very interesting, characterized by an octagonal loggia.

At 7 km there are the caves of Villanova, of which the Grotta Dovizza or Grotta Vecchia has a double opening, while the Grotta Nuova, which is the largest in Friuli, is spread over a 4 km long route.

Going south you will find the Grotta di Giganti.

At 2 km there is the small fourteenth-century Church of Santa Eufemia, located on a hill near Segnacco.

Erected in Gothic style, it features a bell tower with a spire and an atrium with pointed arches.
