The Saint of the day April 25 is Saint Mark the Evangelist, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.
Saint Mark
Probably of Jewish origin and born outside Palestine, Marco was considered by Pietro as a son.
Mark accompanied Peter on missionary journeys to Rome and the East, where he probably wrote the Gospel.
In addition to his filial relations with Peter, Mark was also in deep friendship with the apostle Paul, whom he met in 44, when Paul and Barnabas brought the collection of the community of Antioch to Jerusalem.
On his return, Barnabas brought Marco with him, who will later be in Rome alongside San Paolo.
In 66 St. Paul gave us the latest news about Marco, writing from the Roman prison to Timothy to bring Marco with him as he might have needed his help.
Mark the evangelist died in about 68, probably of natural death.
An alternative version of Mark's death is provided by the Acts of Mark, according to which on April 24 he was dragged by the pagans through the streets of Alexandria in Egypt, tied with ropes around his neck.
Imprisoned, he would have suffered the same type of torture he would not have endured the next day, and he would have died from his serious injuries.
