Calabria in short

Calabria is the Italian region located further south of the Italian peninsula, bordered by Basilicata and is washed by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea.

The Strait of Messina separates it from Sicily.

Climate

The climate of Calabria is Mediterranean with differences between the coast on the Ionian Sea which is drier and that on the Tyrrhenian Sea which is hot and humid.

Coastal temperatures are never below 10 ° C. and never exceed 40.

On the Apennines of the internal areas, the winters are instead cold with frequent snowfalls.

What see

Bathed by two seas, the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ionian Sea, Calabria has a significant coastal development, where there are renowned seaside resorts, such as Capo Vaticano, Tropea, Scalea, Diamante, Amantea, Roccella Ionica and Scilla.

The territory of Calabria, mainly mountainous and hilly, is characterized by rugged and mighty mountains, such as the Pollino massif, the Sila plateau, the Serre chain, the Aspromonte massif, and a small part of plains between such as the Plain of Sibari, the plain of Sant'Eufemia and the Plain of Gioia Tauro.

In order to protect the rich natural heritage of the Calabria territory, the Sila National Park, the Pollino Park and the Aspromonte Park have been established.

Do not forget the rich archaeological heritage of this region, mainly due to the Greek period, with valuable evidence, of which only a part have been brought to light by excavations.
