Saint Delphinus of Bordeaux died on December 24, 403.
Delphinus was appointed bishop of Bordeaux under the reign of Theodosius.
He worked hard in a vast Christianization of the diocese of Bordeaux and his fame was also known outside its borders.
He was a defender of the Catholic faith, participated in the Council of Zaragoza in 380, in which Priscillian's errors were condemned and convened a council in Bordeaux in 384, always against the doctrines of Priscillianism.
Delfino was linked with a close friendship to Phébade, bishop of Agen, he was a friend of Sant'Ambrogio di Milano, with whom he exchanged many letters and baptized Paolino, the future bishop of Nola.
San Paolino considered Bishop Delfino as his spiritual father, always maintained a deep gratitude towards him and exchanged regular correspondence.
