Bernoldo became bishop of Utrecht in the Netherlands, succeeding Adalbolus II on September 24, 1027.
He had the churches of San Paolo, San Giovanni and San Pietro built in Utrecht and that of San Leboino in Deventer, when he died on July 19, 1054 he was buried in the choir of the church of San Pietro.
Liturgically, July 19 is celebrated in the Catholic Church.
San Bernoldo, patron of Oosterbeek, was also named patron of the guild of Dutch artists in 1917.
