Peter and Paul were two apostles of particular importance in the history of the early Christians and in the creation of those roots in which the Christian faith finds the energy necessary to survive over the centuries.

Born in Bethsaida in Galilee, Peter, who was a fisherman by profession at Capernaum, was Andrew's brother and became an apostle of Jesus following the episode in which he was called to the lake of Galilee to assist in the miraculous fishing.

Among those closest to Jesus, Peter was the only one to follow Jesus to the house of Caiaphas, the high priest, and he had to flee after having denied the master three times, who had predicted his questionable behavior.

Peter, who was commissioned by the Risen Jesus to lead the church, died between 64 and 67 during Nero's anti-Christian persecution.

Originally from Tars, Paul, who had been a persecutor of Christians, met the Risen One on the road between Jerusalem and Damascus and converted to the Christian faith.
