post-title

The Saint of the day March 22 is Santa Lea, which name day is celebrated and other saints who are celebrated on this date.

Santa Lea

It is only through the texts left by San Girolamo that news has been handed down regarding the life of Santa Lea, a woman who lived in the fourth century.

St. Jerome, mentions it in a letter addressed to Marcella, a gentlewoman residing on the Aventine and animator of a female community characterized by a lifestyle very similar to that of the convent.

Lea, who like Marcella was part of a noble family, widowed when she was still young, seemed about to marry Vezzio Agorio Pretestato, an illustrious person appointed honorary consul.

But contrary to expectations, Lea entered the community led by Marcella, where the Word of God was studied and prayed in a community way, leading a life marked by chastity and poverty.

It was following this choice that Lea's life rhythms were reversed, with the consequent distortion of her priorities.

Marcella had total trust in Lea, so much so that she instructed her to educate the young women to faith, teaching them the practice of charity in silence.
