Massachusetts lies in a region located in the northeastern part of the country, whose borders are marked to the north by New Hampshire and Vermont, to the west by the metropolitan area of New York, to the south by Connecticut and Rhode Island and to the east by Atlantic Ocean.
Divided into fourteen counties, it has a population of almost seven million and Boston is the capital.
The geographical conformation of Massachusetts is mainly hilly with the presence of the Appalachian chain where Mount Greylock stands out which with its 1064 meters is the top with the highest altitude.
Only along the coasts is the land flat and not far away are the islands of Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.
The major rivers are Taunton, Connecticut, Charles and Merrimac.
As far as the economy is concerned, there are many industries including textile, paper, footwear, electrotechnical, mechanical, naval and graphic industries.
Agriculture and cattle breeding are underdeveloped while fishing is widespread especially in Boston which has the most important fishing port in the USA.
Massachusetts is also an important tourist destination that attracts millions of tourists every year.

Boston is the largest city in New England located on the Atlantic coast and built on a series of peninsulas joined by bridges and underwater tunnels.
With its port located at the confluence of the Charles River and Mystic River rivers, it represents a very important maritime commercial center.

Boston's climate is temperate and is characterized by copious rains all year round and summers with high temperatures.
In ancient times the city was called Trimountain, named after its three hills, while it was later renamed in Boston as the famous city in England.
Founded in 1630 by English Puritan colonists who fled persecution in their land, it became a colony a few years later taking the name of Massachusetts Bay.
