Most of the western definitions of the Middle East consider this geographical region as the set of nations located in Southwest Asia, including the coastal states of the Mediterranean Sea including Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Cyprus, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

List of states

Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Yemen are also part of this area.
