post-title

The Saint of the day October 1 is Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus of Lisieux, which name day is celebrated and other saints are celebrated on this date.

Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus of Lisieux

Saint Teresina del Bambino Gesù, born in 1873, came from an exemplary French family, the last of eight children, including three dead children and five females who entered the convent.

She was orphaned by her mother at just four years old and the elderly father poured out all her affection on her, who was the youngest of the daughters.

He made his entrance into the order of the Carmelite nuns at just fifteen years of age, thanks to a special permission from the Pope, necessary for his young age, which Teresa herself, together with her father, had requested very insistently in Rome.

Pope Leo XIII had said to her, to reassure her, "If God wills, you will enter." And so this young woman had entered Carmel, with the aim of saving souls and praying for priests.

What life the young nun led in the convent of Lisieux can be read in a revealing book, written by Saint Teresina herself, out of obedience, and titled Story of a soul.

In it the story is told, very edifying and impressive, of a young woman who reaches a luminous holiness obtained by making small sacrifices to be made but large considering the humility with which they were put in place.

The life of Saint Teresina is punctuated with these small and enormous acts of virtue and, having remained misunderstood by the sisters of the Carmel of Lisieux, she accepts a series of injustices and persecutions with a spirit of patience.

Sick in the chest, joyfully bears pains and weaknesses, tired and exhausted of strength, she does not refuse any work.

He offers each sacrifice with full firmness and serenity for the souls of sinners and for the needs of the Church, he also wants to throw roses on everyone, regardless of whether they are righteous men and women or sinners.

He died, only twenty-four years old, on September 30, 1897, stating "I can't breathe, I can't die, but I want to suffer again".

Not even twenty-six years after her death she was proclaimed Blessed and two years later Saint.

Subsequently, after another two years later, she was declared Patron, together with St. Francis Xavier, of the Missions.

In the meantime, the roses of graces, of the conversions and of the miracles rained on humanity, those same roses of the small sacrifices that Saint Teresina of Lisieux had accepted without even thinking about it for an instant and which indicated a path of holiness accessible to all with simple humility.
