Psalm 82: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentProbably written in the pre-exile period, when justice was lacking, Psalm 82 begins by stating that God rises in the midst of the heavenly assembly of gods, understood as angels, and imposes his supremacy on the judges of the earth guilty of committing sentences unjust in favor of the wicked. The psalmist turns to God disconsolate, saying that the unjust judges do not understand and walk in the darkness, making all the foundations of the earth falter, undermining with this the good civil life, they are however men who pass.

[6] I said: "You are gods, you are all children of the Most High".
