Psalm 96: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentPsalm 96 constitutes an invitation to the assembly of peoples for a recognition of the greatness of God. God is unique and for this reason all peoples of the earth have a common origin, although some of them have moved away from God, preferring polytheistic cultures and idolatrous. But God invites everyone to return to him, who formed as his witness people what gathered around the temple in Jerusalem.

Psalm 96 complete

[1] Sing a new song to the Lord, sing to the Lord from all the earth.

[2] Sing to the Lord, bless his name, announce his salvation from day to day.

[3] In the midst of peoples tell your glory, to all nations tell your wonders.

[4] Great is the Lord and worthy of all praise, terrible above all gods.

[5] All the gods of the nations are nothing, but the Lord made the heavens.

[6] Majesty and beauty are before him, power and splendor in his sanctuary.

[7] Give to the Lord, O families of peoples, give glory and power to the Lord,

[8] give the Lord the glory of his name. Bring offerings and enter his halls,

[9] bow down to the Lord in sacred ornaments. The whole earth trembles before him.

[10] Say among the peoples: "The Lord reigns!". Support the world, so that you don't falter; judge nations righteously.
