First real man in space

A Russian astronaut named Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space.

It was launched into space aboard the Vostok I spacecraft on April 12, 1961, and completed an orbit around the Earth before landing, an hour and 48 minutes later.


Gagarin was born on March 9, 1934, the father was a carpenter, while the mother was a peasant.

At school he was good at science and during his studies he showed a growing interest in flying.

In 1955 he had the experience of his first flight and as a great enthusiast he enrolled in an aeronautics course, where he had the opportunity to demonstrate his strong talent that led him to join the Soviet aviation and graduate with full marks at the Orenburg Soviet Air Force Academy.
