post-title

History of the Festspielhaus Theater

The Festspielhaus theater in Bayreuth is located in the city of Bayreuth in Bavarian Germany and is reserved for the representation of Wagner's works only.

It is located on the green hill not far from the city center.

It was Wagner himself who supervised the execution works to finance which the money allocated by King Louis II of Bavaria was used, who was obsessed with the works of his friend Wagner.

The building was inaugurated with the first of the work entitled "the ring of the Nibelungo" performed on several evenings between 13 August and 17 August 1876.

Among the main features of the new theater, the total absence of side stages, the furnishings based on maximum simplicity, the semicircular plan of the stalls and the hole reserved for the orchestra, built under the stage to make the musicians invisible to the spectators so as to focus attention exclusively on the play in total darkness.

The orchestral hole also had the purpose of reducing the volume of the orchestra compared to that of the voices of the singers in order to equalize all the musical elements for a perfect acoustic effect.
