San Bonifacio

Bonifacio was born in 673 and was probably part of an English noble family from Devonshire.

The monastic rule imposed by the abbey of Exeter and Nurslig followed before the evangelization of the Germanic peoples who were beyond the Rhine river began.

After overcoming the initial difficulties, he traveled many kilometers in three years, traveling throughout Germany.

When he was summoned to Rome by the pope, he was ordained bishop and assumed the name of Bonifacio.

Before proceeding with the organization of the Church along the right bank of the Rhine, he dealt with the foundation of the abbey of Fulda, located between the regions of Hessen and Thuringia, capable of assuming the role of operational center of spirituality and scattered religious culture on Germanic soil.

As the seat of his archbishopric, he was assigned to the diocese of Mainz.

He ascended to the glory of the Father by dying in 754.
