Psalm 41: complete, commentary

CommentThe person who prays, in psalm 41 is in a state of serious infirmity and says that the work of those who go to the aid of a person who is not self-sufficient or in difficulty is to be considered blessed, he will be helped in turn when he needs, finding relief in the Lord. The psalmist presents his faults to God with great humility and begs him to restore his good health.

[2] Blessed is the man who cares for the weak, on the day of misfortune the Lord sets him free.


[3] The Lord will watch over him, he will make him live blessed on earth, he will not abandon him to the craving of enemies.

[4] The Lord will sustain him on the bed of pain; you will give him relief in his illness.

[5] I said: “Have mercy on me, Lord; heal me, I have sinned against you ”.


[6] The enemies wish me evil: "When will his name die and die?".

[7] Those who come to visit me say the forgery, their heart accumulates malice and when they come out they spread it.

[8] My enemies whisper together against me, they think evil against me:


[9] "An evil disease has struck him, from where he has stretched he cannot get up".

[10] Even the friend I trusted, who also ate my bread, lifts his heel against me.
