Psalm 54: complete, commentary

post-title

CommentIn a very concise form, in Psalm 54 God is invoked asking for salvation against enemies. The psalmist undertakes to offer God a sacrifice in which praise for him abounds, for his greatness and infinite mercy. In reality, the true holocaust to offer to the Lord is the commitment of a life made of penance, to be united in intimate with the sacrifice inherent in the Eucharist.

Psalm 54 complete

[1] To the choir master. For stringed instruments. Maskil. Di Davide.

[2] After the Zifei came to Saul to say to him, "Behold, David is hiding with us."

[3] God, for your name, save me, for your power do me justice.

[4] God, listen to my prayer, put your ear to the words of my mouth;

[5] since arrogant and arrogant men have risen against my life, they do not place God before them.

[6] Behold, God is my help, the Lord sustains me.

[7] Make evil fall upon my enemies, dispel them in your faithfulness.

[8] With all my heart I will offer you a sacrifice, Lord, I will praise your name because it is good;

[9] from all anguish you have freed me and my eye has challenged my enemies.
